Genesis Re-Introduce Road Bikes Into Their 2010 Lineup

Details and images have finally emerged regarding the new 2010 bike lineup from Genesis. You don’t actually have to wait for these bikes as long as intially thought because although they are in the 2010 lineup, they are being released this September.

For their 2010 range, Genesis have re-entered the road bike market. The first ones detailed are the Aether 10 and 20 which are the first of the Genesis racing bikes.

Designed mainly for daily commuters, the Aether is perfect for city travel. Both models feature an ALX-9 aluminium frame. However, this comes at a price. The cheapest of the two models, the Aether 10, costs £599.99 and features quality parts from Shimano and Sora. If you would prefer to go for the other model, the Aether 20, it will cost you another £200 extra. As part of your £799.99, your bike will feature a range of Shimano Tiagra and Sora parts.

The next bike up on the list is the Vapour. This model features a high quality ALX-9 6069 aluminium frame and will cost you about £850. To match the new lightweight frame, you also get a newly designed front hanger mount which has been designed to make braking more positive, according to Genesis.

The Flyer is the third bike on the 2010 lineup. This one features an extensive range of stylish features, not to mention being a singlespeed bike. This bike is made from a Reynolds 520 steel frame, with features such as chrome cable clips and a white chain. This good looking bike is alot less than it looks, at only £599.99. The strange thing is that this bike doesn’t feature any bottle bosses so you can attach any bike accessories, I can only assume that Genesis assumed that anyone riding this bike couldn’t possibly sweat through their cycle clothing.

The road bikes announced were just a side to your main course, the huge array of mountain bikes announced. The Core is the first mountain bike in the lineup and it comes in two different flavours. There is the more expensive Core 50 for £1,199.99, or the cheaper Core 40 for £999.99.

The next one up is the Alpitude costing £1,699.99, not to be mistaken with the Altitude, features a Reynolds 853 steel frame, perfect for long trails.

For a cheaper mountain bike, you should be looking towards the iO. This bike comes in two different versions, the singlespeed, costing £599.99, or the eight-speed version for £1,099.99. Both versions come with a Reynolds 520 steel frame.

Despite having 5 different models, the Altitude is the final bike in the 2010 lineup. The lowest priced models, the Altitude 00, priced at £799.99, and the Altitude 10, priced at a more expensive £999.99, both come with a Reynolds 520 frame. The next level up in the model range is the Altitude 20. It comes with a Reynolds 853 steel frame and costs a pricey sum of £1,449.99. Moving past the fourth and onto the fifth, we have the most expensive model, the Altitude Ti. This final model is the most expensive at £2,799.99 and it comes with a titanium frame.
