Combining advanced technology and a large range of models makes Giant Mountain Bikes one of the leading bike manufacturers around the world. Their models feature heavily in the world class competitions around the world with mountain bikers on every continent using Giant bikes during competition, training and their leisure riding. However Giant design bikes for the most amateur of bikers as well as world class experts. Giant makes bikes for kids who have never ridden, or who use bikes as their mode of transport.

There are two ranges of children’s bikes made by the brand. One range is designed for little children who have never ridden before. For children that have never ridden a bike before, there is a range for them. The second are for the more experienced young riders who use their bike for fun and freedom. Let’s take a look at both.

First Bike
First time riders can choose from three bikes depending on how big/old they are. Safety and fun are combined in the L’il Giant which is a tricycle in loads of colours. balance is aided with the training wheels and parents can keep some control over the bike with the back pole. For little girls there is the PUDD’N range which has two bikes for different levels. On the regular sized bike there are removable training wheels, 16” wheels and an adorable basket. The smaller junior size features stabilisers and smaller 12” wheels. The last model in its first time rider range is Animator. This is the boy’s version of the larger bike and is painted in darker colours than PUDD’N without the basket. Again, the Animator bike comes in a Junior and original size to accommodate children of all ages.

Sport Bikes
The MTX and Taffy ranges are Giant’s bikes for children with more riding experience. The MTX comes in a 125 and 225 series with the 125 having 20” wheels and 6 speed gears. The 225 version has wheels of 24 inches and 18 speed gears. Both bikes have an Alux aluminium technology frame and suspension fork. The Taffy is similar to the MTX but with girl riders in mind throughout the design. Like the MTX there is a 225 and a 125 series with the 125 having smaller wheels and fewer speed gears with the 225 having more gears and taller wheels.

Your riding performance will increase with the quality of Giant mountain Bikes. Your child will enjoy riding their bike and you will be happy that it is keeping them fit.

There are fantastic mountain bike routes worldwide, but in this article we will look at the most popular ones in the United States. If you are fit and healthy, mountain bike vacations are a great way to spend time with your friends and to make new friends as you ride. You will stay overnight in a variety of rooms, hotels or hostels depending on which you like best and budget. You will surely make some wonderful memories.

Mountain Bike Trails – Where to Find the Best Ones

Mountain bike trails can be found everywhere so there will almost certainly be several that are at the right level in the area you live. This may include mountain trails but also a variety of different enjoyable locations. For the adventurous or individuals skilled at mountain biking there are many thrilling, beautiful and sometimes demanding trails to follow.

Mountain bike riding trails may be discovered all over the US, wherever you live. Excellent mountain biking trails are not merely available on mountain ranges. In reality, almost all tracks that are rough and scenic can give exercise and thrills for even the most experienced biker. In spite of this, as a result of the type of terrain, the very best mountain tracks are situated in the Southwest and the Pacific Northwest and in states close to and including North Carolina in the Southeast. There are some excellent areas for biking in the Pacific NorthWest including Deschutes River Trail in Oregon, American River Bike Path, Northern California and Washington’s Black Diamond Coal Mine trails . The National Trail in Arizona is a tough trail for more experienced riders as is Moab’s Slick Rock Trail in Utah which is a famous twelve mile ride.

The western states are clearly superior for trails with a higher elevation with the areas in the Southwest are gaining in popularity with mountain bike riders as they have also gained an enviable reputation for first-rate accommodation. A number highly regarded trails in this area in the US include Bent Creek Asheville North Carolina, the Blankets Creek Bicycle Trail, Woodstock Georgia and the Colorado Trail Breckenridge.Even though it is extremely satisfying to finish these rides the objective is to have a good time and to get some beneficial exercise so there’s no point in pushing yourself too much, you do not have to complete the whole trail if you find it too difficult.

One well-known mountain trail we should talk about is the world’s longest mountain bike trail. This is the Great Divide Mountain Bike Route which is over two thousand miles and runs all the way from Mexico to Canada. In the mountainous states of Idaho, New Mexico, Colorado and Wyoming it is a tough trail, as some stretches have sharp ascents and descents.

Conclusion

For those who are healthy and fit a mountain bike vacation is a great way to benefit from the wonders of nature and to get some excellent exercise out of doors. These very enjoyable vacations are usually cheap and will more than likely give you a real adventure at a very low cost.

Sunlight, wind, dirt and insects, all these become real problems when you have Road Bike Cycling at high speeds. Cycling sunglasses therefore have multiple protective functions, allowing the biker to clearly see the way and feel comfortable at the same time. Eye damage can occur when you leave the eyes unprotected against the ultraviolets and infrareds, not to mention that you can also get foreign bodies in the eyes as well. High quality shades make the difference between amateurs and pros. There are many ways of choosing the cycling sunglasses, and we’ll only go through a few of the main criteria of selection.

The right pair of cycling sunglasses is sometimes hard to find. Lots of users are keen on a certain brand or product and when it goes out of stock or the style disappears, they are at a loss about what to find as substitutes for their old cycling sunglasses. fit well on the face, and this applies to wraparounds in particular. Such designs will keep dirt, pollutants and sun rays away from your eyes. Check the frames of the Road Bike Cycling Sunglasses for air holes, because wraparounds could get foggy because of moisture trapped inside.

Many pros choose cycling sunglasses with interchangeable lenses. You should change the lenses depending on weather variations because the needs differ on bright sunshine or dull overcast days. Cycling sunglasses with gray lenses are the most efficient and widely practical for almost all types of weather. However, try yellow lenses when it’s foggy and amber ones when you have to pay more attention to the terrain variations. Interchangeable cycling sunglasses definitely seem like the perfect choice for one who is going to spend a lot of time on the bike, and even if they are a bit more costly, they are worth every cent.

Depending on individual needs, Sunglasses could be made on prescription. The sight accuracy or integrity may have a lot to suffer without the right eye correction, therefore, never neglect such conditions when choosing sun shades. The prescription lenses could be attached or adjusted behind the standard cycling ones by means of a special mechanism. As for the regular pricing, the cost of the best cycling sunglasses varies between 0 and 0, but many good items come a bit cheaper. Sports stores often have sales and promotions and you can get some serious discounts too, which should make quality Road Bike Cycling Sunglasses eyewear more accessible to the average user.

When Richard Jenkins, a cycling coach, bid farewell to his cyclers at his team’s annual award celebration, it also happened to be his 65th birthday. On that memorable day, he received a sentimental 65th birthday group present that was far more memorable than any cycling plaque his cyclers or fellow coaches could ever give him. He received a keepsake CD filled with the voices of his colleagues, his graduating cyclers, and their parents, expressing their thanks and warm wishes. The recordings ranged from funny to sentimental, and demonstrated to him what he had meant to his cyclers.

“I go out there and urge my cyclers to be the best that they can be every day. I’ve always focused on the team, and when they gave me this gift it demonstrated how much my coaching meant to them personally”.

The cyclers and their parents wanted to give the coach a surprise present that was very personal. However, with hectic schedules, the cyclers and their parents knew that the group gift would have to be simple for everyone to contribute to.

The gift the coach received is called LifeOnRecord.

Team mom, Kelly Mann, got the idea when her husband gave her a LifeOnRecord CD as a unique birthday gift idea.

The process is simple: family and friends call a toll-free number and are directed to record a favorite story, memory or wish. There’s no limit on the number of callers that can phone-in or on the total number of recordings you receive. The recordings can be downloaded for free using iTunes so that you can make your own compact disc, or LifeOnRecord can create a keepsake CD with a personalized label and metal case. An unlimited plan with free download capability into iTunes costs $49.99, or an unlimited plan with a keepsake CD costs $74.98.

It is a unique, affordable service that allows you to create a highly personal gift with ease.

“The cyclers and their families that gave me this gift mean a lot to me, and this is the perfect way for me to remember them and their impact after my coaching days are over. The mom who organized and put this together is my hero”.

If you’d like to be a hero to your loved one, you can purchase LifeOnRecord and give them a unique birthday gift.

The use of bicycles is growing as the cost of fuel and vehicles continues to rise. For many years bicycle baskets were used primarily on children’s bicycles or on three wheel bicycles. A variety of bicycle baskets have been created in the last few years to meet the requirements of a bicyclist.

When bicycles are used as the main mode of transportation for an individual they need a bicycle basket that will accommodate their daily needs. Bike riders now carry many items in bicycle baskets that must accommodate heavy items used for work each day. These baskets historically rested on the handlebars of the bicycle however in recent years there has been an upsurge in the placement of the bicycle basket on the rear of the bike so that it is does not impede steering the bike and items do not fall out when making sharp turns with the handlebars of the bicycle.

Three wheel bicycles are ideal for bicycle baskets because they are usually build to accommodate individuals who carry groceries or other large parcels in them. These bikes have baskets that span between the two rear wheels and are often deep enough to carry large parcels and packages. This stability provides the rider with the security of knowing that their items will not fall from the basket and they will not lose control of their bike.

The use of bicycle baskets on bikes that are used for sports is increasing in popularity. These baskets are designed in an array of shapes, sizes, and textures, and can be purchased to reflect the personality of the person using them. There are sport bicycle baskets which are made of wicker and look like a regular basket but hang from the handlebars of the bike on hooks that are embedded into the side of the basket. These baskets are not made to carry a lot of weight or a sizeable package, however are great for water bottles, power drinks, or other sports snacks that are needed for long distance bike rides.

When selecting a bicycle basket it is important that one decide what the primary use of the basket will be and how their bike is equipped to support the basket. Many bikes that are designed for trick riding are not appropriate for bicycle baskets and the goods placed in a basket on this bike could easily be damaged or broken. However, with a regular bicycle that is going to be used for commuting to work or for long rides that will not require sharp turns a handlebar bicycle basket is a perfect choice.

When a person is going to use their bike as their primary mode of transportation and will be carrying groceries or other heavy items in the basket then a person may want to consider the purchase of a three wheel bike. Three wheel bikes provide support and comfort for a rider as well as a bicycle baskets that is large enough to carry numerous items.

Click on the this link for more insights on different types of MTB suspension available to purchase.

If you should go for a simple ride in the park you don’t wish to spend too much, if you believe you’ll do any off-road riding then big tread tires maybe all that you need, but if you suspect you may try some coarse stuff then you’ll need suspension.

Gears will often be Shimano, brakes must be V-brakes, but could be manufactured by some different makers, all what’s left of the MTB elements will depend on how much you can spend.

If you go to your local bike shop or big sports store and see what they have got to supply, then purchase it or have look online and perhaps you’ll find an identical thing at a nicer price .

So maybe you would like to be more adventuresome, more off-road, more forest tracks and dry stone brook beds, then you will need something a little lighter, with suspension forks. All this could cost extra cash, but will be worthwhile for the additional pleasure and excitement. With a better mountain bike cycle it’ll have a sportier handling and because it is lighter, it is going to be simpler to struggle up the hills before you come flying down the opposite side.

The parts will again be Shimano and the quality will rely on what quantity of cash you can spend. Handle bars, stem and seat pin should be commingle and together with a comfy saddle you’ll be set to take to the hills.

The successive rung up on the trail bike ladder would be alright to race on. There are heaps of to make a choice from, get on the net and surf the bike makers sites and all the store sites along with the mags for luscious footage of the bikes.

There are numerous mixtures of hearts and edges to make up your wheels, hearts from Shimano and edges form Mavic are the common mix. Then you have got to choose which suspension forks to put on you bike, you may not get a choice, depending on which bike you buy, the main ones are Suntour, Marzocchi, Manitou, Fox, RockShox and RST, buy any of these and you wont go far incorrect. If you want what the operatives ride you may have to pay a large amount of cash a pro MTB.

As with road bike at the head of the range, you can identify what you need to build up your dream bike. Top bikes frames to spend your money on may be Klien, Scott, Rocky Mountain Bike, Gary Fisher, Santa Cruz and K2, these are just some of the most requested bike frames in the world and would be the envy of your chums.

Likely the best forks to put on your frame would be RockShox SID’s these are light and do all the stuff you need with control of all functions, there are countless other to also to think about, look at how much travel they have and the rebound and damping systems.

Conclusion: Picking The Right MTB Mountain Bike

Gears again will be either SRAM or Shimano fast fire, XT or XTR, more money might be spent on carbon or amazingly light commingle cranks, the brakes should be hydraulic discs from Hayes, Pace or Magura or stick to the trusted V-bakes. Carbon handle bars, stem and seat pin and a light weight race saddle and Time or Shimano SPD clipless pedals, then your selection of tires will depend on what terrain and ground conditions you’re going to ride on.

And Downhilling? Downhill bikes are totally different, more of a cross country motor bike, but without the engine, low centre of gravity and plenty of travel on the suspension on the forks and the rear end, disc brakes, wide edges and fat tires, gears are only at the rear as often a single chain set is made use of. Unless your meaning to do a lot of downhill racing then there’s not much point in purchasing one as you need to get up the hill first before you can come down and as light weight isn’t a controversy with downhill mountain bike, they are very heavy to get up hill with out using a tow rope or a ski lift.

Whether or not you are just getting interested by the game of cycling or have been a keen cycle rider for some time it’s critical that you are supplied with the correct cycling clothing. Cycling clothing will not only help by keeping you safe and comfy during your cycle ride but as well keep you looking trendy and at the head of your game. When it comes to cycling clothing, there are some pieces especially which are thought to be as the basics and which any bike rider, noob to classy, should have in their wardrobe. Initially you may be discouraged as you could be worried by the proven fact that you are not in a position to afford the custom cycling jerseys and pro gear that some riders can, but you’ve got to know this isn’t going to have any effect on your performance. So long as you are choosing the correct pieces, you can find just as top quality cycling clothing except for a less expensive cost. Cycling jackets and cycling jerseys are actually one of the first things you need to be purchasing.

They may keep the sun from burning your arms when riding in the day and keep you warm during cooler weather. You need to try to find a light-weight water-resistant jacket, and when you’re out on the market for your jacket you need to look for a cycling cap, bike leg warmers or perhaps some knee heaters to keep you on the trails whether or not the weather may not be the nicest.

Helmet Another piece of cycling clothing that is vital is the helmet. It is imperative that you wear a helmet when cycling, and you take a while to select the right one. Remember that you only would like to buy helmets that are licensed by the suitable authorities.

You also wish to try on different helmets till you find one that fits your head nicely. It should not be too tight or too loose, and should touch the crown, sides, front and back of your head. Also bear in mind that if at any time your helmet ever suffers any damage, the best idea is to just go out and buy a new one instead of attempting to fix the one that you have. Helmets are cheap enough this isn’t going to put you out much and it will make certain that you are safe and secure while cycling. The worst mistake that some folks make is supposing that because cycling is a low impact sport that there isn’t any need to have the right cycling clothing and gear. This is totally wrong, and you can suffer major harm if you are not wearing your helmet and other defending gear.

Road Bike Cycling – Mountain Bike

In Mountain Bike events, riders may carry their own tool kits, and are only allowed to receive outside assistance in dedicated assistance zones should they have any mechanical problems.

Mountain bikes are also known as ‘fat-tyres’, because of their comparatively wide tyres.

The original term for mountain biking was ‘clunking’, when the practice involved stripping down cruiser bicycles and racing them down fire roads, trails etc.

Key facts

Venue: Hadleigh Farm, Essex

Dates: Saturday 11 – Sunday 12 August

Gold medals up for grabs: 2 (1 men, 1 women)

Athletes: 80 (50 men, 30 women)

Mountain Bike: a history of the sport

In the 1970s, mountain biking developed as a fringe sport in California. Taking a bike off-road was nothing new but the development of a new bike that relished such terrain was. The bikes had fatter tyres, rapid-shift gears, drum brakes and ground-breaking suspension. They gave thrill-seeking cyclists much more freedom.

The members of the Velo Club Mount Tamalpais in California generally receive the credit for establishing mountain biking as a sport. They invented the Repack Downhill race, held regularly between 1976 and 1979 just across the famous Golden Gate Bridge from San Francisco. The races attracted riders from near and far, and the media soon started taking an interest.

The first national championships in mountain biking were contested in 1983 in the United States. The sport soon took off in Europe and Australia and the first Mountain Bike World Championships recognised by the UCI were organised in 1990.

For more information on the history of the sport visit the IOC website.

Mountain Bike at the Olympic Games

Cross-country Mountain Bike made its Olympic debut at the Atlanta 1996 Games.

How the competition runs

Mountain Bike takes place over rough and hilly countryside, across fallen trees, branches, rocks and streams. Races are over 40-50 kilometres for men and 30-40km for women. The riders start together and must complete a set number of laps of the course. The winner is the first past the finish line.

Jargon buster

* Bunny-hop: To jump the bike, without dismounting, over an obstacle.

* Cornering clearance: The amount of lean angle a bicycle can have without digging a pedal; also called pedal clearance or road clearance.

* Pushclimb: A section of a mountain biking trail with inadequate traction or too-steep a pitch, that forces cyclists to dismount and carry their bikes.

* Snakebite: The most common type of flat tyre, caused by hitting an obstacle so hard that the innertube is pinched against the rim.

Get involved

Cycling is a great way to keep fit, as well as an environmentally-friendly means of transport.

British Cycling’s club development programme, called Go-Ride, is aimed at encouraging clubs to help young cyclists enjoy their cycling in a safe, off-road environment.
